From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of heroes who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the party reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them few options but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
