Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the liquid was probably human blood.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for details.
An important official said the attack rendered him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
